Back in June this year, SDL Sheffield launched an internal competition to raise £10,000 to support the building of a new residential unit for SDL Foundation charity, St Wilfrid’s.
St Wilfrid’s provides care and refuge for the needy and homeless, and it helps equip its residents with the skills and knowledge to ultimately lead independent lives. SDL Sheffield colleagues set themselves up into three teams – Lingua Franca, GeminAid, and the Out of Office team – and over the last five months the teams threw themselves into a huge range of fundraising activities, including cake sales; raffles, eBay sales, a triathlon, pub quizzes, allotment clean-ups, extravaganzas, car boot sales, concerts and much more.
The end result is that SDL Sheffield smashed its £10,000 fundraising target to raise a truly impressive £14,450! And the winners of the internal competition to generate the most money? The Out of Office team, which raised £7,436.
