Colleagues in 12 SDL offices around the world supported the non-profit organisation that provides entrepreneurial skills and educational support for women in Uganda. In Los Angeles and San Jose (CA), Wakefield (MA) and Superior (CO), SDL employees purchased beautiful recycled paper bead jewellery, shea nut butter products and tailored items. Colleagues in the Maidenhead, Munich, Granada and Tokyo offices hosted Bead Parties, while colleagues in Lebanon, Norway, Poland and Turkey shopped at BeadforLife’s online web store. A group of volunteers from the Superior office also spent a lunch hour helping to assemble wreath-shaped Christmas ornaments with repurposed BeadforLife beads.
It’s estimated that SDL raised around $12,000 dollars for BeadforLife in support of charity work such as numeracy training and coaching, income generation from the manufacture and sale of beads, sustainable farming through the provision of ox ploughs and improved seeds, and sponsorship for young girls to attend school.
