goAnalyze: SDL Trados Studio 2009 Analysis Made Easy

by Klaus Fleischmann, Kaleidoscope

Analyzing files in SDL Trados Studio can be onerous as translators have told us repeatedly. So, it was obvious for Kaleidoscope to develop a solution for this tedious task: goAnalyze!

This add-on enables you to perform an analysis of individual, several, and even zipped files. Furthermore, there is no need to open them in SDL Trados Studio. All you have to do before running the first analysis is to create a profile in the user interface of goAnalyze. This profile consists of the language combination, the translation memories to be used plus optional analysis settings.

Now you are all set to analyze SDL Trados Studio files by doing one of the following:
  • Drag and drop one or several files or a zip file onto the desktop icon and then select the analysis profile you want to use.
  • Right-mouse-click the file(s) and start the analysis from the context menu.

The analysis results are stored to a file according to the settings you have provided in the beginning. All temporary files will be deleted automatically. SDL Trados Studio does not even have to run on the machine, but it needs to be installed.

Note: goAnalyze is available in a basic or professional version. In the basic version, you are limited to one translation memory connection in the configuration. Apart from that, the basic version is unlimited in terms of both features and time. The professional version allows you to create as many profiles as you like.
